The rules for using FindCaptains as a discovery and connection platform.

FindCaptains is a discovery, evaluation, and connection platform. It helps customers Discover Captains, evaluate public profiles, and Connect through Contact Requests. FindCaptains is not the Captain, a vessel operator, an employer, a charter operator, or automatically a party to later arrangements between a customer and a Captain.

These pages explain how FindCaptains currently works. They are not licensed legal advice.

Acceptance

By creating an account, building a profile, publishing, sending a Contact Request, or otherwise using FindCaptains, you agree to these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy, and Community & Acceptable Use. If you do not agree, do not use FindCaptains.

You must be able to form a binding contract. FindCaptains is intended for adults using a professional marketplace. Provide accurate account information and keep it reasonably current.

What FindCaptains is — and is not

FindCaptains hosts Captain accounts and public profiles, Services, Areas, credentials, Boats, media, Captain’s Log, Discovery, Contact Requests, membership and publication, and moderation. Version 1 helps customers Discover, evaluate, and Connect with Captains. FindCaptains does not currently book charters, process trip reservations, employ Captains, dispatch vessels, control voyage decisions, set Captain prices, or guarantee marine-service performance.

Publication, moderation, and any credential or profile review on FindCaptains are not a guarantee of licensing, insurance, safety, vessel suitability, quality, accuracy, legality, or outcome. Customers should independently confirm credentials, insurance, vessel suitability, availability, pricing, and trip or service terms before relying on a Captain.

Customer responsibilities

Customers are responsible for evaluating whether a Captain, vessel, or service is suitable. Before relying on a Captain, confirm relevant credentials, insurance, vessel suitability, availability, pricing, and any trip or service terms or requirements. A Contact Request is a request to connect. It is not a booking, reservation, or guarantee that the Captain will accept the work.

Captain responsibilities

Captains are responsible for truthful identity, credentials, licenses, experience, Services, Areas, vessels, insurance representations, contact information, and any pricing or availability representations they publish or send. Captains must comply with laws applicable to the services they perform. Captains are not FindCaptains employees or agents merely because they use the platform.

User content

You retain ownership of content you submit. You need the rights and permissions to post it. You grant FindCaptains a limited license to host, display, process, resize, and promote that content as needed to operate FindCaptains and your published profile. This includes profile text, photos, Boat information, credentials you add, and Captain’s Log content. See the Photo Guidelines for image expectations.

Your use of FindCaptains must also follow Community & Acceptable Use and the Photo Guidelines.

Membership and publication

You may create, edit, and privately preview a Captain profile without publishing. Public Discovery visibility requires publication and an active paid membership or complimentary grant. Complimentary access is not guaranteed and may expire or be revoked according to the grant.

Paid membership is processed by a third-party processor such as Stripe. Cancellation is generally at period end: access can continue through the paid period, and cancellation does not itself issue a refund in FindCaptains. FindCaptains does not currently process in-product refunds. Plans, prices, and complimentary grants may change going forward. Membership expiry or cancellation can remove public publication eligibility while leaving your account and unpublished profile in place unless separately removed.

Off-platform arrangements

After a customer and Captain connect, later arrangements are generally between those parties unless FindCaptains expressly offers another transaction product. External websites, booking tools, calendars, and social links on a profile are third-party destinations. FindCaptains is not automatically a party to those later agreements and does not guarantee booking, availability, price, or outcome.

Moderation

FindCaptains may reject, hide, suspend, remove, or restrict accounts, profiles, content, publication, or features for policy, fraud, safety, legal, or platform-integrity reasons. There is no rigid sequence of enforcement steps. Moderation and verification are not a blanket guarantee of licensing, safety, quality, insurance, accuracy, or outcome.

FindCaptains intellectual property and third-party sites

FindCaptains software, branding, catalogs, and site design are owned by FindCaptains or its licensors. Captain websites, booking pages, and social links are third-party sites unless FindCaptains expressly operates them.

Disclaimers

FindCaptains is provided as a software platform for discovery and connection. Public claims must remain truthful. Presence on FindCaptains does not mean a Captain is verified, licensed, insured, available, or suitable. FindCaptains does not guarantee uninterrupted service, complete security, or that every profile or Contact Request is accurate.

To the extent permitted by law, FindCaptains is not liable for later arrangements between customers and Captains, for marine operations, or for third-party websites and tools. You agree to indemnify FindCaptains against claims arising from your content, your representations, your marine services, or your misuse of the platform, except where the law does not allow that allocation of responsibility.

Changes and termination

We may update these Terms of Use. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last updated. FindCaptains may suspend or end access where needed for policy, fraud, safety, legal, or platform-integrity reasons. You may stop using FindCaptains at any time.
