Recommended photo sizes
You don’t need to resize your photo perfectly before uploading it. FindCaptains will help you crop, position, and rotate it. The sizes below are recommendations, not hard requirements.
Profile photo
1024 × 1024 px or larger. A square photo works best for your circular avatar.
Gallery photos
1600 × 1200 px or larger. Landscape photos generally work best, but portrait photos are supported.
Captain’s Log photos
1600 × 1200 px or larger. Photos from your phone are welcome.
Boat photos
1600 × 1200 px or larger. Landscape works best for your primary boat photo; portrait remains usable. Additional boat photos may be landscape or portrait.
Cover photo
1600 × 640 px or larger. A wide landscape photo works best for the cover banner on your public profile.
Upload photos you own or may share
Only upload photos you own or have permission to use and share. By uploading, you confirm you have those rights.
Respect people in your photos
You are responsible for any needed permission from customers or others who appear in your photos, including minors where permission from a parent or guardian is appropriate. FindCaptains does not obtain releases on your behalf.
Public visibility
Photos connected to published profile, Boat, or Captain’s Log content may be visible publicly. Draft or private content stays restricted according to current visibility settings.
How FindCaptains may use uploaded photos
FindCaptains may resize, compress, convert, cache, and display your photos as needed to operate and promote your published FindCaptains presence. We attempt to remove unnecessary location and device metadata during processing. Perfect metadata removal is not guaranteed.
Keep it honest and appropriate
Use clear photos of you, your Boat, and the work you actually do. Do not upload illegal, harmful, hateful, sexually explicit, deceptive, infringing, or unrelated content. Do not upload malware or other malicious files.
